UTB students represent Bahrain in international talent competitions
The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) celebrates its students’ international achievements, highlighting their excellence in talent pursuits alongside strong academic performance. UTB supports student talents because it believes that nurturing passions – whether in sports, arts, or intellectual pursuits – builds confidence, creativity, and professional skills that complement academic growth.
Mohamed Taqi, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) student at UTB, proudly represented Bahrain at the 2025 Arab Youth Chess Championship in Casablanca, Morocco. The tournament brought together top players across age groups from U8 to U20, for both boys and girls. Competing in his category, Mohamed delivered an impressive performance – defeating a Candidate Master and Oman Champion in the opening round and later overcoming the Iraq U20 Champion in the third round. Meanwhile, fellow BSCS student Abdulaziz Omar Faqihi secured third place in the local Blitz Chess category and, together with his team, represented Bahrain in the third edition of the International Chess Tournament in Kuwait, which brought together over 300 players from 33 countries, where he delivered a commendable performance. Both students have successfully nurtured their childhood passion for chess, reflecting the growing depth of talent within Bahrain’s chess community. UTB extends its appreciation to the Bahrain Chess Federation for providing such valuable opportunities to our students.
Also representing Bahrain with his team, Mohamed Soltani, a Bachelor of Science in International Business (BSIB) student, showcased his skateboarding skills at the Grand Skate Tour 2025 in Moscow, Russia. This prestigious global festival of street culture and extreme sports brought together over 250 athletes from 64 countries, celebrating youth talent, creativity, and competitive spirit. Through his participation, Mohamed expanded his international network, gained valuable insights from professional skateboarders, and is motivated to further enhance his skateboarding journey.
UTB empowers students to achieve excellence both academically and personally by supporting platforms for global exposure, recognition, and holistic skill development. By nurturing passions alongside studies, the university shapes well-rounded graduates who are prepared for professional success and confident in showcasing their talents on international stages. With its vibrant and diverse student community, UTB remains committed to welcoming and supporting different talents, fostering an environment where every student can thrive.
