UTB students compete in campus cybersecurity challenge
The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) continues to champion a student-centred approach and practical skill development through its student-led initiatives. The Cybersecurity Club, supported by the College of Computer Studies faculty, organised a Capture the Flag (CTF) Competition to challenge students in ethical hacking and cybersecurity problem-solving.
Open to all UTB students, participants tackled a series of engaging challenges, testing their technical skills, analytical thinking, and teamwork. The event provided a platform for students to enhance their cybersecurity knowledge while demonstrating their knowledge and innovation.
The competition concluded with outstanding performances from the participants. The first-place team featured Mohammed Ali Juma and Abdulla Tantawy (both BS in Computer Science) alongside Issa Mohammed Issa and Ali Mohammed (BSIT in Networking and Cybersecurity). The second-place winners included Abdullatif Kamal, Adnan Omar, and Fawaz Basem Ahmed (BSIT, Networking and Cybersecurity), with Maryam Aysha Yusuf (BS in Computer Science). The third-place team comprised Sayed Husain Qarooni and Yaqeen Mahmood (both BSIT in Networking and Cybersecurity). Special appreciation goes to the expert judges, Mr Osama Al Salah and Mr Manaf Majed, whose insights and fair evaluation were instrumental in the success of the event.
As a university with a diverse student body, strong student support, and modern campus facilities, UTB ensures students have ample opportunities to participate in impactful, career-enhancing initiatives. Through student-led activities, students develop professional skills and a strong sense of social responsibility, preparing them to lead and innovate in the digital world.
