UTB strengthens community bonds with Ramadan Ghabga celebrations

Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to unity, cultural heritage, and community engagement, the University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) hosted two exclusive Ghabga gatherings, bringing together its dynamic network of stakeholders. The celebrations, held for employees and students, and for alumni, underscored the spirit of Ramadan, fostering reflection, connection, and an enduring sense of belonging.

During the employees’ Ghabga, also attended by board members and students, Dr Hasan Almulla, President, reflected on the university’s remarkable progress over the past four years. In his speech, he thanked everyone who contributed to these achievements in academic excellence, innovation, and global partnerships, reaffirming its status as a leading university in Bahrain and beyond.

The evening featured an enchanting performance by a traditional band, filling the atmosphere with the rhythms and melodies of Ramadan. Attendees enjoyed the excitement of a raffle, with lucky winners receiving exciting prizes. Adding to the intellectual spirit of the night, Dr Surjit Victor, Programme Head of the Master of Science in Digital Marketing, handed over complimentary copies of his co-authored book on social media and content marketing to the university. Additionally, Dr Fadheela Husain, a faculty member from the College of Computer Studies, was recognised as the Best Dressed of the evening, beautifully representing the cultural essence of the celebration.

Spearheaded by the Alumni and Career Development Centre and with the support of volunteer students from the College of Computer Studies, the alumni homecoming Ghabga, also attended by faculty, staff, and students, has reinforced the strong bonds within UTB’s ever-growing community. Dr Haitham Alqahtani, Vice President for Academic Affairs, reaffirmed the university’s achievements and commended all stakeholders for their significant contributions. The evening was enriched by traditional performances, engaging activities, and cultural celebrations, fostering a spirit of camaraderie among UTB graduates. UTB’s previously signed collaboration with The Alumni Club – Bahrain was highlighted as a pivotal initiative in promoting alumni success and professional growth.

This year’s Ramadan Ghabga celebrations served as a reminder of the inclusive and vibrant culture that defines UTB. Bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds, the event celebrated shared traditions while looking forward to a future of continued growth and excellence. UTB remains dedicated to nurturing a supportive and thriving community, embodying the cultural values throughout the academic journey and beyond.
