UTB signs MoU with Royal Humanitarian Foundation to advance community engagement in Bahrain

The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), marking a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to fostering social impact and inclusive education across the Kingdom of Bahrain. This partnership formalises collaboration between two parties dedicated to national development: UTB, a forward-looking higher education institution, and RHF, a leading humanitarian organisation committed to supporting vulnerable communities.

Signed by Dr Hasan Almulla, President of UTB, and His Excellency Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of RHF, the ceremony was held in a spirit of shared purpose and joint dedication to promoting access to education, community welfare, and sustainable development.

Highlighting the significance of the MoU, Dr Hasan Almulla remarked that UTB strongly supports accessible and inclusive education, particularly for individuals with the potential to drive meaningful change within their communities. He stated that the collaboration with RHF reflects their shared values and an ongoing mission to embed social responsibility at the core of the university’s purpose. He added that, together with RHF, they are not only offering scholarships but also investing in lives and in the future of the country.

Echoing this sentiment, His Excellency Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa stated that RHF continues to prioritise impactful partnerships that uplift the lives of those in need. He noted that the collaboration with UTB represents a significant step towards enabling students from vulnerable backgrounds to access higher education and realise their aspirations. He added that the MoU is more than partnership; it is a joint commitment to serve the community with integrity, empathy, and a shared vision of progress.

A key pillar of the partnership is the provision of scholarships by UTB to students supported by RHF. This initiative ensures that financially disadvantaged individuals can pursue quality higher education and unlock life-changing opportunities. It reflects both parties’ shared belief in equity and the conviction that access to education is fundamental to national advancement.

The MoU also establishes a framework for collaboration on humanitarian and social development initiatives. UTB and RHF will coordinate efforts in areas such as organising educational workshops, hosting lectures and seminars on social responsibility, and engaging UTB students in structured volunteer activities. These initiatives aim to cultivate a culture of civic duty, empathy, and public service among students while contributing meaningfully to the wider community.

Moreover, the partnership paves the way for joint support of RHF-led development projects. UTB will provide institutional backing to relevant initiatives, particularly those aligned with its mission of societal empowerment through education and research. By contributing its academic expertise and student engagement to humanitarian causes, UTB reinforces its role as an active stakeholder in Bahrain Vision 2030.

This collaboration with RHF underscores UTB’s strong commitment to community engagement and social responsibility, paving the way for long-term contributions to national development through education, empowerment, and community service.
