Gulf Insider’s Bahrain Education Awards 2024

The Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) of the University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) is one of the 18 unique innovations awarded in a celebration of educational excellence in Bahrain. The prestigious award, presented during a gala ceremony, acknowledges the university’s efforts to create enriching educational experiences and prepare students for success in a rapidly evolving world.

UTB’s EDP has gained acclaim for its innovative approach, combining dynamic workshops, mentorship, and practical resources designed to equip students with essential entrepreneurial skills. The programme, first launched as part of the Bachelor of Science in International Business and Business Informatics programmes, has evolved into a hallmark of the university’s commitment to entrepreneurship. Students develop vital skills in business planning, marketing, and finance, supported by hands-on projects that enable them to bring business ideas to life. Over its iterations, the EDP has incubated numerous start-ups, a testament to UTB’s role in fostering a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in Bahrain.

“Drawing on insights from academic departments, industry advisory boards, and business leaders, UTB continually innovates to align with market needs and boost student employability. With a focus on advancing the EDP, increasing student impact, and strengthening Bahrain’s role as a regional innovation hub, we are committed to empowering future entrepreneurs and equipping our students to drive meaningful change across industries,” remarked Dr. Hasan Almulla, President of UTB.

Established in 2022, the Bahrain Education Awards is a first-of-its-kind platform celebrating innovation and excellence in Bahrain’s education space. From ethical AI use to sustainable practices, the 2024 innovations represented several areas that schools and universities in the Kingdom are focusing on. The process encourages institutions to share a brief background about their most recent innovations, the implementation process, an assessment of the impact, the challenges faced, and the lessons learned in hindsight. An in-depth description of each winning innovation will be published in Gulf Insider’s special education issue which serves as a comprehensive guide for sharing best practices with institutions in the Kingdom, educators, parents, and students. The innovations from each educational institution will also be published online on Gulf Insider’s Education platform.
