UTB paints October pink for breast cancer awareness

University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) stands united with Bahrain and the global community in observing Breast Cancer Awareness Month every October. This year, UTB organised a series of impactful events led by its Community Engagement Office with the participation of  Volunteer Club and Centre for General Education, alongside external partners and alumni – 6/10 Women Empowerment, Alhilal Hospital, Tree of Life Charity Society, and Ibn Al Nafees Hospital.

The first event, organised in a public space by 6/10 Women Empowerment, an initiative led by a dedicated UTB alumna, focused on promoting women’s empowerment. UTB’s Volunteer Club stepped assisting visitors with medical consultations, advisory services, and themed activities for children, contributing to an added impact.

UTB’s Community Engagement Office led the second event at the Tree of Life Charity Society lounge, focusing on breast cancer awareness through a lecture highlighting early detection and preventive care. In addition to the informative session, attendees received free health checkups, including blood pressure and diabetes screenings, and personalised medical consultations. UTB also distributed gift vouchers for healthy purchases and provided refreshments to create a relaxed atmosphere. The board members of the charity expressed appreciation for UTB’s commitment to community well-being and health awareness.

The third event, “Pink Day,” brought the campus in solidarity as students, alumni and employees participated in interactive lectures, medical consultations, and themed activities aligned with this year’s global message, “No one should face breast cancer alone,” reinforcing the importance of support and awareness in the fight against this disease.

Through its flagship initiative, “UTB CarEs,” the university has integrated corporate social responsibility into its core operations, focusing on community engagement, education and environmental sustainability. UTB reaffirms its dedication to community involvement and its support for the fight against breast cancer, making a meaningful impact both on campus and the broader community.
