UTB launches new programmes and the biggest scholarship grants

University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) launched its new programmes and scholarship grants through an Open Day under the patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa, Secretary General of the Higher Education Council and Deputy Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries.

During the opening ceremony, Dr. Hasan Almulla, the President of the University of Technology Bahrain, expressed sincere appreciation and commendation to Her Excellency Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa for her patronage of the event and unparalleled support of the university’s development plans. Her Excellency Dr. Shaikha Rana praised the idea of having an open day for students and parents to learn about the programme offerings and also congratulated UTB on the new programmes approved by Higher Education Council, followed by presentations from keynote speakers namely: Eng. Luma Abbas Al Mahroos, the Director of the Environmental Assessment and Control Directorate at the Supreme Council for Environment; Dr. Jassim Haji, the President of International Group of Artificial Intelligence; and Mr. Andy Straughan, the NCUK Regional Director of Africa, Middle East, Europe and Americas.

Following the opening ceremony, Her Excellency Dr. Shaikha Rana made a tour of the exhibition showcasing the programmes and best projects of students. Among the new programmes are Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology in 3 majors (Applications Development, Networking and Cybersecurity, and Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence), and International Foundation Year (IFY) programme offered in collaboration with NCUK to guarantee students direct entry to British and international universities; the existing programmes are Bachelor of Informatics Engineering, Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Business Informatics, Bachelor of Science in International Business, and Master of Business Administration.

In addition to the new programmes, UTB also announced up to 50% scholarship grants, the biggest in the history of the university, categorized as high school CGPA, company recommendation, enrollees for all new programmes, orphans and those with special needs, transferees, and alumni among others.
