UTB hosts seminar on public speaking and presentation skills
The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB), through its Deanship of Student Affairs in collaboration with HUB Bahrain, organised a seminar to underscore the importance of public speaking and presentation skills across all career fields. The session aimed to equip students with the confidence, techniques, and practical tools necessary to deliver compelling presentations and communicate effectively in both academic and professional settings.
Facilitated by a communication expert, the seminar provided a comprehensive guide to mastering verbal and non-verbal communication. It covered the value of clear, concise messaging, adapting speech for impact, and using tone, pace, and pauses effectively. Body language was also highlighted as a key communication element, with students learning how posture, gestures, facial expressions, and eye contact help build confidence and audience connection.
The seminar also focused on presentation techniques, including structuring content, designing impactful slides, and using storytelling to engage listeners. Strategies for managing presentation anxiety were shared to help students speak with greater assurance.
This initiative reflects UTB’s commitment to holistic student development by cultivating essential soft skills for employability and leadership. Through such activities, the university ensures that its students graduate with not only academic knowledge but also the communication skills vital for success in today’s competitive landscape. Positive feedback from participants affirmed the seminar’s value in shaping confident, articulate, and career-ready graduates.
