UTB highlights academic excellence and expansion in a global forum
The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) participated in the 2025 Shanghai-Bahrain International Forum on Educational Exchange and Cooperation, organised by the Confucius Institute in collaboration with the University of Bahrain, to commemorate the 35ᵗʰ anniversary of China-Bahrain relations. The event brought together representatives from leading universities in Shanghai and Bahrain, reinforcing academic collaboration and deepening cultural understanding between the two nations.
The opening ceremony was attended by esteemed dignitaries from the Ministry of Education, the Higher Education Council, and His Excellency the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Bahrain, alongside delegates from Chinese industries in Bahrain and Shanghai universities.
Forum discussions underscored the pivotal role of education as a cornerstone of national progress and a strategic driver of sustainable development, highlighting themes of global competitiveness, human capital development, and innovation-driven growth.
Speaking at the forum, Dr Hasan Almulla, President of UTB, showcased the university’s steadfast commitment to educational excellence and internationalisation. He highlighted UTB’s expanding network of global affiliations and accreditations, its diverse and multicultural student community, and its ongoing campus developments – including a near-complete, world-class Olympic-sized swimming pool and a modern student accommodation complex – both of which enhance student life and the overall learning environment.
UTB’s participation in the forum marks a significant milestone in its pursuit of global partnerships and academic innovation – its strategic move towards curriculum expansion, with preparations to introduce foreign language courses, including Mandarin, within the Bachelor of Science in International Business and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science programmes. Following programme reviews, foreign language electives will be integrated across other programmes – further aligning with UTB’s mission to produce globally competent graduates ready for international engagement.
Through these forward-looking initiatives, UTB reaffirms its dedication to advancing education, fostering cultural exchange, and strengthening international collaboration – empowering students to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.
