UTB engineering students gain global exposure at a conference in Saudi Arabia
Engineering students from the University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) participated in the 19ᵗʰ Middle East Corrosion Conference (MECC) held in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Organised in partnership with the Bahrain Society of Engineers and supported by industry leader Aramco, the MECC is one of the region’s most prominent platforms for sharing expertise in materials engineering and corrosion management.
The conference provided UTB students with unparalleled opportunities to engage directly with international practitioners, specialised experts, and industry stakeholders. Participants exchanged insights on corrosion prevention and control across the oil, energy, and broader industrial sectors, gaining exposure to real-world challenges and emerging trends. The event also enabled students to showcase their own ideas and innovative technologies, including practical applications of industrial revolution advancements, while exploring potential investment opportunities in advanced materials and engineering solutions.
UTB’s participation underscores the strength of its engineering programmes, including the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology – Engineering Accreditation Commission (ABET-EAC) accredited Mechatronics and Informatics Engineering programmes, which made UTB the first private university in Bahrain to achieve ABET accreditation, as well as the newly added Environmental Engineering programme offered by the College of Engineering, introduced in response to the growing demand for future-focused careers. These academic strengths further reinforce UTB’s recognition by the Saudi Ministry of Education and a trusted degree provider for thousands of Saudi students over the years. By combining rigorous academic learning with practical application and industry engagement, UTB equips students with the skills, knowledge, and global perspective needed to thrive in competitive, rapidly evolving industries.
This engagement reinforces UTB’s commitment to supporting students through hands-on learning experiences, industry exposure, and mentorship, ensuring graduates are ready to contribute effectively to Bahrain’s economic growth and the global engineering landscape.
