UTB boosts health and wellness with October awareness initiatives
In line with the national and global campaigns promoting health, well-being, and the fight against breast cancer, the University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) reaffirmed its strong commitment to community welfare through a month-long series of impactful health awareness activities this October. These initiatives, held under UTB’s flagship community engagement initiative, UTB CarEs, reflected the university’s dedication to fostering a culture of care, wellness, and social responsibility.
In collaboration with the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, UTB organised an enlightening awareness session at the Foundation’s headquarters in Seef. The event featured expert speakers from the Rotary Club of Seef Bahrain, Al Hilal Premier Hospital, and the Dr Nerman Lotfi Centre for General Medicine and Clinical Nutrition, who emphasised the life-saving importance of early detection and regular screening for breast cancer. The session aimed to educate participants on prevention strategies and empower them to take proactive steps toward maintaining good health.
On campus, UTB marked Pink Day, a highlight of the month-long observance that brought together students, faculty, and staff and the broader community in solidarity with those affected by breast cancer. Representatives from Royal Bahrain Hospital conducted an informative session and offered free medical check-ups, reinforcing the university’s commitment to accessible healthcare. The event also featured engaging activities such as a photo booth, artistic displays by student clubs, and volunteer-led initiatives that celebrated hope, unity, and awareness.
Extending its health advocacy beyond breast cancer awareness, UTB organised a week-long series of health sessions on campus in collaboration with Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Centre. Medical practitioners delivered informative talks on crucial topics including family health, preventive care, mental well-being, and lifestyle management. These sessions aimed to equip the university community with practical knowledge and habits that support long-term wellness.
Through these comprehensive and collaborative efforts, UTB continues to strengthen its role as a socially responsible university that prioritises the health and well-being of its community. The university’s October health awareness initiatives not only align with national and WHO health objectives but also embody its vision of empowering individuals to lead healthier, more informed lives – a mission that truly defines UTB CarEs.
