UTB celebrates Saudi National Day with cultural exhibits and traditions
In a vibrant tribute to shared Gulf heritage, the University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) celebrated the 95ᵗʰ Saudi National Day with a campus-wide activities that highlighted unity, cultural pride, and regional solidarity. The event underscored the enduring and strategic ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain, while warmly embracing Saudi students as an integral part of UTB’s diverse academic community. Reflecting on decades of strong bilateral relations, the celebration also showcased the university’s commitment to fostering cross-cultural understanding through education, tradition, and youth engagement.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from UTB’s academic and administrative staff, as well as students, all coming together to honour this national occasion, highlighting a shared sense of identity and pride, and reinforcing the cultural and historical bonds between the two nations.
A traditional Saudi music performance by a local folk band captivated the audience, offering a vivid glimpse into the rich heritage and artistic traditions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The authentic ambiance was further enriched by a culinary corner serving traditional Saudi food and beverages, allowing attendees to enjoy the true flavours of Saudi cuisine.
A dedicated photo booth area allowed participants to capture memorable moments, adding an interactive and engaging element to the event and encouraging social interaction across the university community.
The celebration featured a series of interactive student-led exhibitions, creatively designed to showcase various aspects of Saudi culture, aligned with this year’s theme: “Our Pride is in Our Nature”. The exhibits highlighted key values such as ambition, generosity, authenticity, hospitality, unity, and the Saudi Vision 2030.
Through innovative and interactive presentations, students delivered informative content that allowed attendees to explore Saudi identity from a fresh and youthful perspective, one that reflects a deep cultural awareness and strong sense of belonging.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Hasan Almulla, President of UTB, highlighted that UTB’s celebration of Saudi National Day reflects the deep historical relationship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He noted that this year’s theme, “Our Pride is in Our Nature,” encapsulates the shared values cherished across the Gulf region and underscores the importance of instilling these values in future generations. “The university is committed to organising such cultural and national events that foster social and cultural cohesion among our university community, strengthening the collective pride in our shared Gulf identity,” he added.
Attendees expressed their delight at being part of the celebration, commending the of organisation and the variety of engaging segments. One student shared, “It was an amazing experience. We learned about Saudi culture in a fun and interactive way.”
Another added, “Everything about the event was special – from the traditional music performances to the student exhibitions. It made us feel proud and connected.”
A student also highlighted the visual and cultural elements, saying, “I loved how the event showcased heritage and hospitality, while emphasizing ambition and authenticity. It was beautifully done.”
This celebration is part of UTB’s ongoing efforts to enhance cultural and social ties among communities in the region. It reflects the university’s commitment to educational and cultural initiatives that promote openness to both Gulf and global cultures. Most importantly, it affirms the significant role of academic institutions in nurturing national pride, unity, and a sense of belonging among the youth.
