UTB celebrates National Day with cultural fest and recognitions

The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) celebrated the 53ʳᵈ anniversary of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s National Day on campus. The celebration highlighted UTB’s commitment to supporting national initiatives, fostering cultural pride, and empowering Bahraini youth, reflecting the university’s ongoing dedication to shaping responsible, community-oriented, and future-ready graduates.

The event was graced by His Excellency Mr Hassan Abdullah Mohammed Al Madani, Governor of the Northern Governorate, alongside university leadership, faculty, staff, community partners, alumni, and students. The celebration began with the national anthem, followed by a speech from Dr Hasan Almulla, President of UTB, who extended warm congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the people of the Kingdom of Bahrain. He highlighted that this year’s theme embodies the deep sense of belonging and national pride shared by Bahrainis, while reaffirming UTB’s commitment to instilling these values in its students and preparing a generation capable of contributing to the Kingdom’s continued development under wise leadership.

The celebration featured a vibrant lineup of national and cultural performances, showcasing the creativity and talent of Bahraini youth. UTB student Nasser Abdulla Altooq mesmerised the audience with his magical tricks inspired by Bahrain’s rich history. A dedicated National Day video was screened, followed by a heartfelt poetry recital by Bahraini poet Ms Sabeeka Al Shehi, whose verses celebrated the Kingdom’s progress, heritage, and national identity.

In recognition of meaningful contributions to community development and national advancement, UTB honoured its strategic partners, including the Northern Governorate represented by Eng Suhaila Yousha, the Royal Humanitarian Foundation represented by Mr Yusuf Foaad Al Mahroqi, the Bahrain Association for Behaviour and Communication Difficulties & Alia National School represented by Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and the Friendship Society for the Blind represented by Mr Hussain Haider Al Hulaibi. The university also recognised four outstanding alumni – Yasser Abdulrahman Janahi, Yasser Yasin Mubarak Omran, Malik Zmerli, and Ali Hussain Ali Mansoor – for their exemplary community engagement and strong representation of UTB values. Additionally, His Excellency Mr Hassan Abdullah Mohammed Al Madani was presented with a token for his unwavering support and active role in community development.

UTB further highlighted its commitment to student leadership and youth empowerment by honouring the outgoing Student Council for AY 2024–2025 for their dedicated service and contributions to campus life. This was followed by the official introduction of the newly elected Student Council for AY 2025–2026, who were warmly welcomed with encouragement and best wishes as they assumed their responsibilities.

From traditional hospitality and folk performances to handmade crafts and local cuisine, the celebration highlighted authentic elements of Bahraini heritage. A traditional Bahraini band enlivened the atmosphere with performances that reflected the Kingdom’s cultural richness and community spirit, creating a heartfelt and authentic expression of national pride.

By celebrating Bahrain’s National Day, UTB continues to exemplify its commitment to promoting national identity, fostering cultural awareness, and empowering youth, reinforcing the university’s mission to develop responsible, community-oriented, and future-ready graduates.
