UTB brings the world together with 65+ nationalities

The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) proudly reaffirmed its commitment to cultural diversity, inclusion, and global interconnectedness through a vibrant celebration of International Day, bringing together students, faculty members, and staff from over 65 nationalities in a dynamic showcase of cultures, traditions, and shared values.

Opening the celebration, Dr Hasan Almulla, President of UTB, emphasised the university’s vision of global engagement and unity. He stated that International Day reflects the university’s identity as a diverse, inclusive, and globally connected university. He added that at UTB, cultural diversity is regarded not merely as something to celebrate, but as a strength that enriches learning, broadens perspectives, and prepares students to thrive in an interconnected world. He further expressed pride in providing an environment where every nationality and culture is valued.

Representing the student body, Abdulrahman Ahmed Almulla, President of the UTB Student Council, highlighted the importance of student leadership and cultural expression in strengthening campus unity. He noted that the International Day celebrates the UTB community’s shared identity and showcases the pride students take in their heritage while embracing diversity. He added that through collaboration, creativity, and mutual respect, students demonstrate that their differences unite them and make their university experience truly meaningful.

Held on campus in partnership with Bahrainouna and Bahrain Islamic Banking (BisB), UTB’s International Day celebration, organised through the collaboration of various student clubs and student volunteers, transformed the campus vibe into a living tapestry of global heritage. Student groups delivered a rich programme of cultural performances, including spoken poetry, folkloric dance and chant, and music. The celebration also featured a parade of traditional and cultural attire and an exhibition of native delicacies, offering the UTB community an immersive experience of the customs and identities that shape its multicultural population.

The event highlighted UTB’s identity as a truly international university and a welcoming home for learners from across the world. By creating meaningful spaces for cultural expression, UTB continues to foster mutual respect, intercultural dialogue, and a strong sense of belonging, which are central to its student-centred philosophy.

Beyond celebration, International Day reflects UTB’s broader educational mission to provide holistic learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom. Students are encouraged to engage in student-led clubs, cultural societies, and leadership initiatives that nurture creativity, collaboration, and global awareness, which are key attributes for success in an increasingly interconnected world.

As a study destination in the Kingdom of Bahrain for students from around the world, the university is committed to high-quality education, industry-aligned programmes, and innovative teaching approaches. As a hub of the World Aquatics Centre of Excellence in the Kingdom, it reinforces its leadership in sports education and athletic development, with international student-athletes proudly participating in the celebration, reflecting the university’s diverse and globally connected community.

To support its international community, UTB provides access to a world-class accommodation complex that offers a safe, comfortable, and enriching living environment for international students. These facilities complement the university’s comprehensive student support services, ensuring a seamless university life experience.

With the first-ever International Day celebration and other student-led events, UTB carries on the belief that diversity is a strength and that an inclusive campus cultivates globally minded graduates. As UTB continues to expand its international presence, the university remains steadfast in championing an environment where every culture is valued, every voice is heard, and every graduate is future-ready and globally competitive.
