The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding MoU with the Rotary Club of Seef, solidifying a collaborative environmental action aimed at supporting the Kingdom’s national marine conservation initiative – the MaRiva Project.

This collaboration underscores UTB CarEs, the university’s commitment to community engagement, including environmental sustainability and academic excellence. The MaRiva Project, spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Seef, is a pioneering initiative aimed at rehabilitating Bahrain’s marine ecosystems, raising public awareness, and encouraging active participation in sustainable development.

Through this MoU, UTB will mobilise its academic resources and student talent to contribute meaningfully to the MaRiva Project. The partnership will integrate marine conservation themes into academic curricula, enabling students to engage in hands-on research, fieldwork, and environmental workshops. UTB’s state-of-the-art laboratories and learning spaces will be made available to support project activities, reinforcing the university’s role as a catalyst for innovation and impact.

Dr Hasan Almulla, President of UTB, commented on the significance of the partnership, “We are proud to join forces with the Rotary Club of Seef in advancing the MaRiva Project. This initiative not only enriches our students’ academic journey but also empowers them to contribute to the preservation of Bahrain’s marine heritage – a cause that is both urgent and inspiring.”

Mr Basel Aryan, President of the Rotary Club of Seef, echoed the sentiment, “UTB’s involvement brings invaluable expertise and youthful energy to the MaRiva Project. Together, we are laying the foundation for a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future for Bahrain.”
