UTB celebrates World Environment Day promoting sustainability and innovation

In the presence of Her Excellency Shaikha Maram Bint Isa Al-Khalifa, Secretary-General of National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) joined NIAD in commemorating World Environment Day. The event featured tree planting, project exhibit and seminar, marking a significant step towards promoting environmental awareness and sustainability.

Dr. Hasan Almulla, President of UTB, guided Her Excellency Shaikha Maram Bint Isa Al-Khalifa on an opening tour showcasing innovative and impactful environmental student projects. These projects, ranging from cutting-edge waste management technologies to sustainable agricultural practices, highlighted the students’ dedication to fostering a greener future.

The seminar “Towards a Greener Bahrain” presented the country’s critical environmental challenges and highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration to achieve a more sustainable and resilient Bahrain. UTB researchers were encouraged to submit their entries for the Best Agricultural Research and Studies award.

This event highlighted UTB’s commitment to nurturing environmentally conscious individuals and promoting a culture of sustainability, particularly through its Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering programme. UTB aims to inspire a sense of responsibility and empower more students to make a difference, in support of Bahrain’s sustainable environment goal.
