UTB and Ministry collaborate on AI-driven agricultural innovations

The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB), through the AI & Metaverse Research Centre of its College of Computer Studies, in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, held a community engagement seminar titled “From Soil to Cloud: AI-Driven Agricultural Innovations.”

The seminar was led by Dr Firas Saidi, Assistant Professor and Head of the AI & Metaverse Research Centre, with participation of the university’s Alumni and Career Development Centre, headed by Mr Redha Shaker. The session provided a platform for exploring the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Data Analytics in the agricultural sector.

Discussions highlighted practical and emerging applications such as smart irrigation systems, precision farming, and drone-based soil and crop monitoring, demonstrating how advanced digital technologies can drive sustainability, resource efficiency, and agricultural productivity. Participants also examined how integrating these technologies supports Bahrain’s national development goals and promotes innovation in the agriculture industry.

The seminar witnessed active engagement from delegates of the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, reflecting UTB’s commitment to national collaborations, research-driven innovation, and the advancement of sustainable development through higher education.
