UTB alumni showcase innovative project at Mara’ee 2024

Under the esteemed patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture launched the 7ᵗʰ Bahrain International Agricultural and Animal Production Exhibition (Mara’ee 2024). This prestigious event highlights Bahrain’s steadfast commitment to advancing agricultural and animal production, aligning with the visionary initiatives led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to foster sustainable investment in these vital sectors.

Among the cutting-edge innovations featured at Mara’ee 2024 was a project by UTB mechatronics engineering alumni Mustafa Mujahed Khan,ohamm Med Jassim, and Zainab Ramadhan. Their IoT-based plant growth system, powered by a Raspberry Pi microcontroller, integrates state-of-the-art technologies to optimise plant care. This multifunctional system combines nutrient delivery, water sprinkling, and temperature control with real-time monitoring capabilities. It provides users with regular updates via GSM, ensuring precise plant growth management. Such innovations demonstrate the significant role technology plays in enhancing sustainability within agriculture.
