UTB advances renewable energy research with rooftop solar PV project
The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) announces significant progress in renewable energy adoption and research. Since the commissioning of its rooftop solar PV project in early 2023, UTB has generated and utilised approximately 10,000 kWh of clean electricity. This initiative has not only reduced the university’s carbon footprint but also served as an excellent learning platform for students.
According to Prof Husham Ahmed, Director of Research Centre, the project has yielded impressive academic outcomes, with six faculty-student collaborative research papers published in Scopus-indexed conferences and journals. Additionally, it has attracted students to visit the campus, recently welcoming students from Nasser Centre for Science and Technology (NCST).
Moreover, UTB’s solar initiative aligns with Bahrain’s vision for a cleaner environment and supports the kingdom’s renewable energy goals. This project demonstrates UTB’s proactive approach in embracing sustainable practices and fostering innovation in clean energy technologies.
