UTB advances excellence with strategic workshop on employability integration
Through the initiative of its Alumni and Career Development Centre in coordination with the Faculty Development Office, the University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) held a strategic faculty workshop aimed at strengthening the integration of employability within teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
Facilitated by Dr Narimane Hadj Hamou, Founder and CEO of the Centre for Learning and Customised Knowledge Solutions (CLICKS), UAE, the full-day workshop brought together faculty members to examine global and regional trends shaping graduate employability and to consider how these shifts influence curriculum design and student development.
During the workshop, faculty members explored the core components of employability – skills, attributes, and mindsets – and reflected on their implications for programme and course alignment. They engaged in redesigning learning outcomes and assessment approaches to ensure employability dimensions are clearly embedded and supported by coherent learning activities. Authentic, competency-based assessments and the use of feedback and digital portfolios were also discussed as essential strategies for evidencing students’ readiness for the workplace.
The activities further highlighted the importance of student-centred and experiential pedagogies, including project-based and inquiry-driven learning, which enhance engagement and build lifelong learning capabilities. The conduct of the workshop reaffirms UTB’s commitment to continuous faculty development and to delivering high-quality, industry-relevant education supported by expert faculty, strong student support services, and enriched student experiences.
