Under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, UTB celebrates its 21ˢᵗ graduation ceremony

Under the gracious patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) proudly celebrated its 21ˢᵗ graduation ceremony on January 26, 2026, at the Al Dana Amphitheatre, with the inspiring theme “One UTB, One World,” reflecting the university’s commitment to diversity, internationalisation, and global engagement.

The ceremony was attended by senior officials, prominent individuals in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as a large audience of parents and guests who shared in the graduates’ joy and achievement. It marked the culmination of a distinguished academic journey characterised by diligence and perseverance, reflecting the university’s identity that has been established within the higher education community, and its significant role in preparing qualified national talents equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute effectively to the comprehensive and sustainable development of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

On this occasion, Mr Hisham Alrayes, Chairman of the University Board and Group CEO and Board Member of GFH Financial Group, expressed profound pride in the 21st graduating class, highlighting the steadfast support of Bahrain’s visionary leadership under His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for both the university and the wider educational sector. He extended his sincere gratitude to His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his generous patronage, as well as the presence of his son, His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, noting that such support has been instrumental in UTB’s remarkable development over the years.

He emphasised the university’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, the preparation of highly skilled Bahraini professionals, and the advancement of strategic local and international partnerships, ensuring that graduates are equipped with both scientific competence and the competitive skills necessary to thrive on regional and global stages.

In his speech, Dr Hasan Almulla, President of the University of Technology Bahrain, stated that the graduation of the 21st class represents a significant milestone in the university’s journey. He highlighted the tangible advancements in the university’s infrastructure, academic programmes, and modern teaching methodologies, noting that UTB is confidently moving toward global recognition by attracting students and faculty from around the world.

He also emphasised that the inauguration of the World Aquatics Centre of Excellence and the on-campus accommodation complex have been a significant step in UTB’s development, attracting international athletes and students while reinforcing Bahrain’s position as a regional and international hub combining academic and sports excellence. These initiatives embody the university’s vision of providing a comprehensive and holistic educational experience.

The graduates, represented by Abdulla Hasan Sultan, holder of a Bachelor of Science in International Business degree, reflected on the shared journey of resilience, collaboration, and ambition, expressing heartfelt gratitude to Bahrain’s leadership for their support of the education sector, as well as to UTB’s administration and faculty for their guidance and mentorship throughout their academic journey. They pledged to apply their acquired knowledge and skills in the service of the country, contributing actively to its continued progress and prosperity, and raising Bahrain’s profile on regional and global platforms.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of graduation awards and certificates, followed by the rendition of an original UTB song in a celebratory atmosphere that reflected pride and accomplishment. The University administration extended its heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and their families, wishing them continued success in their professional journeys, and reaffirmed UTB’s commitment to the continuous advancement of its educational mission.

The University of Technology Bahrain holds both local and international accreditations and is recognised in Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
