UTB intensifies faculty training for enhanced learning experience

The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB), through its Faculty Development Office in coordination with Advance Higher Education – UK, organised series of workshops for its faculty members prior to the onset of the new academic year primarily to equip them with the emerging or contemporary approaches, methodologies and principles relevant to teaching and learning. Through these workshops, faculty members can adopt key techniques in the delivery of their assigned courses.

Earlier, a number of UTB faculty members were awarded Senior Fellowship and Fellowship by Advance HE-UK, an increasingly sought pedagogical recognition across the higher education sector and is being recognised as a benchmark of quality in teaching and supporting student learning, after successful demonstration and qualification to UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support in higher education. With this recognition, UTB and faculty members are recognised of quality of professional practice, prestige and esteem in the delivery of academic programmes: Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Informatics Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology in three majors (Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, Networking and Cybersecurity, and Applications Development), Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance, Bachelor of Science in Business Informatics, Bachelor of Science in International Business, Master of Business Administration, and NCUK International Foundation Year programme.

The 2-day training is based on Advance HE-UK’s extensive delivery of teacher development programmes across the world, including but not limited to UK, Asia, Africa, Australia, and wider-Europe, to model interactive and collaborative learning activities for participants and is underpinned by research into evidence-informed approaches to teaching and learning.
