UTB celebrates innovation at the 7ᵗʰ edition of EDP

The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) held the 7ᵗʰ edition of its Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP), bringing together industry leaders, academic experts, alumni, and parents to celebrate the entrepreneurial mindset, creativity, and innovation of bachelor’s students from the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences. The event showcased students’ entrepreneurial masterpieces, reflecting UTB’s commitment to nurturing future business leaders through experiential and project-based learning.

As part of UTB’s student-centred approach to education, the EDP is a flagship initiative that offers business students the opportunity to develop and showcase groundbreaking ideas that address real-world challenges – fostering not only academic excellence but also market relevance and innovation.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Hasan Almulla, President of UTB, stated “The Entrepreneurship Development Programme is a vital platform for empowering students to turn their innovative ideas into marketable projects. We believe that youth are the driving force of any society, and we strive to provide them with the skills and knowledge needed to achieve their ambitions.”

Dr Haitham Alqahtani, Vice President for Academic Affairs, also emphasised the importance of the initiative. “This initiative embodies the development of entrepreneurship and the building of a generation of change-makers. It bridges the gap between academia and the business and industrial sectors, providing students with the skills necessary to make a constructive impact in their communities and beyond,” he said.

The event featured an inspiring lineup of keynote speeches and lectures delivered by prominent figures from various sectors.

Ms Fatima Al Ansari, CEO and Founder of Fatima Al Ansari Design, stated “Building a brand revolves around creating an authentic identity that resonates with people. Today’s presentations reflect creativity and vision, and I am confident that young entrepreneurs at UTB will leave their mark in this field.”

Ms Zahraa Taher, Co-Founder of FinMark Communications, commented “Passion is the foundation of every success in entrepreneurship. The students of UTB have demonstrated their ability to turn their ideas into tangible realities, which is the first step toward creating meaningful impact.”

Dr Sharifa Adel, owner of SAMC Medical Centre, and Mr Bader AlMadaifa, CEO and Co-founder of KFM (Khosh Fkra Media), also shared valuable insights from their entrepreneurial journeys.

A key highlight of the event was the exhibition and tour, where students proudly presented their innovative projects to the judging panel. The panel commended the originality, feasibility, and entrepreneurial promise of the showcased work, while also offering valuable feedback drawn from their professional expertise.

At the closing ceremony, the most outstanding projects from the bachelor’s programmes in Business Informatics (BSBI) and International Business (BSIB) were recognised for their innovation, feasibility, and entrepreneurial potential. For BSBI, the ‘Med Ease’ project stood out for its pioneering model of interest-free medical financing, making cosmetic and dental treatments more accessible to all communities in Bahrain. For BSIB, the ‘EcoSprout’ and ‘Prime Protect’ projects were commended for their strong focus on innovation, customer satisfaction, and sustainability – demonstrating real-world relevance and market viability.

Each student project reflected UTB’s commitment to bridging academic theory with practical business experience, equipping students with the skills needed to excel in today’s fast-evolving global economy.

While initiatives like the EDP highlight the importance of strong collaboration with industry sectors as a key driver of Bahrain’s national economic growth, UTB continues to empower the next generation of business leaders – supporting their journey from the classroom to the marketplace with innovation and purpose.
