University officials, faculty attend INQAAHE Conference

Ensuring the quality and continuous improvement of its programmes and strengthening its culture of academic excellence, AMA International University-Bahrain (AMAIUB) participated in the 2017 INQAAHE Conference with the theme, “Between Collaboration and Competition: The Promises and Challenges for Quality Assurance in Higher Education” on February 27 to March 1 at Gulf Hotel, Kingdom of Bahrain.

Hosted by Education and Training Quality Authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain (BQA) under the patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training, HH Shaikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the conference was attended by AMAIUB representatives, namely: Dr. Geraldo Talisic, Vice President for Academic Affairs ; Dr. Aileen Caday, Senior Manager of the Quality Assurance Accreditation Office; Dr. Husham Ahmed, Dean of the College of Engineering and Dr. Ghossoon Alsadoon, faculty member of the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences.

The conference provided an avenue for constructive dialogues on some of the major challenges of the higher education institutions in the regional and global arenas. The conference sessions which delved on addressing the different ways quality assurance agencies provide positional advantage in international education for all stakeholders, how these agencies play a major role in breaking down barriers for students and providers, and the globalization of the quality assurance and qualification frameworks.

The AMAIUB participants have actively participated in the conference workshops which enriched their knowledge on relevant issues pertaining to quality assurance. The workshops were facilitated by well-known QA experts from USA, Germany and Ireland. The workshop sessions included External Quality Assurance and Internal Quality Assurance for QA agencies, The Role of National Qualification Frameworks (NQFs) in Quality Assurance and the Implications of Self-certification for International Recognition Purposes, Training Reviewers for External QA of Higher Education Institutions and their Programmes, and Assessment of Learning Outcomes and the Concept of ‘Value Added Score’.

The conference committee was spearheaded by the INQAAHE Chair, Anthony Mcclaran and the BQA local organizer under the leadership of Dr. Jawaher Al Mudhahki.

This annual INQAAHE event is one of the major activities of the agency to share best practices in the area of quality assurance. The conference was attended by various participants and members of INQAAHE from different parts of the world.

AMAIUB consistently provides opportunities to its academic and non-academic heads, faculty, and staff to attend seminars, trainings, and workshops locally, regionally, and internationally in order to keep abreast with the current trends in education.
