COE students win GCC Robotics Competition’s Local Round

The College of Engineering (COE) students of AMA International University-Bahrain (AMAIUB) won the local round of the Second Joint IET/IEEE GCC Robotics Competition held at the Bahrain Society of Engineers on March 25.

The competition consisted of six rounds in which each round is participated in by the representatives of each GCC country. The said competition promoted and demonstrated state-of-the-art technologies in robotics and their applications. The event was also a gathering of the experts and young engineers discussed and advanced recent developments in robotics.

The AMAIUB team was composed five COE students, namely: Jawaher Alhoori, Abdullah Isa Subah, Gayda Angeles, Alliyz Arevalo, and Fazeel Ahmed. They were under the supervision of Engr. Belal El Sayed, COE faculty whose expertise is on robotics and mechatronics.

During the awarding ceremony, Dr. Ibrahim Matter, head of Institution of Engineering and Technology, congratulated the AMAIUB students and wished them luck in the final round in Qatar.

Dr. Wael Mohamed El-Medany, IEEE representative, also expressed his appreciation for the competence and determination of the AMAIUB team.

COE Dean Prof. Husham Ahmed was very proud of the team who will be representing Bahrain in the final round competition. He also thanked the AMAIUB administration for the support that it has given to the students.

AMAIUB students actively participate in competitions and had won numerous awards in local, regional and international events.
