COE faculty and students visit Bapco’s Solar Energy Project

Selected College of Engineering (COE) faculty and students of AMA International University-Bahrain (AMAIUB) recently visited Bapco’s Solar Energy Project at Sitra.

Headed by COE Dean Prof. Husham Ahmed, the group had the opportunity to view the project and observe the processes involved in generating solar energy. The Bapco representatives generously shared their knowledge about solar energy and valuable experiences that they had while putting up the said project.

The Bapco hosts were delighted to learn from Prof. Husham that AMAIUB’s research thrusts encompass environmental sustainability and renewable energy. In fact, some of the faculty and students have initiated many projects and scientific studies related to solar energy and water desalination. Through these projects, the University hopes to contribute to the Kingdom’s research and development initiatives in reducing reliance on natural gas and placing the country in the region as the pioneer in renewable energy industry.

AMAIUB is thankful to Bapco for allowing its faculty and students to have a glimpse of the Solar Energy Project which is the first of its kind in the GCC region and for extending its cooperation with higher education institutions. The University is very optimistic that the success of this Solar Energy Project will further the Kingdom’s economy, provide more jobs, and encourage everyone to explore innovations pertinent to renewable energy.
