In the observance of the 1st Annual National Sports Day, AMA International University – Bahrain (AMAIU) celebrated the first-ever Bahrain’s Sports Day on February 7.
The half-day event started off with a “warm-up” walkathon which was actively participated in by the AMAIUB academic and non-academic heads, faculty, staff, students, and alumni. This was followed by the various sports competitions, namely: football, basketball, and table tennis which enriched the values of camaraderie and unity among the members of the University community.
During the closing program, Mr. Mohamed Alsharqawi, team captain of the Bahrain Fotsal team and the guest of honor, underscored the significance of sports in the lives of the youth of today who prefer to spend their time with their gadgets. He also added that sports could help everyone to have a healthy mind and body.
Winners of the different sports events received medals and trophies.
The Sports Day was spearheaded by the AMAIUB Sports Club whose President is Mr. Issa Abbas.
AMAIUB is a home to a number of students who play under the Kingdom’s National teams in football , basketball, and other various sports. Hence, the University never falters to hold sports events every year to promote health-enhancing physical activities and to support the Kingdom’s sports development initiatives.
