AMAIUB Research Council spearheads 5th Research Colloquium

“Towards Innovative Research in Engineering, Information Technology, Business and General Education” themed the 5th Research Colloquium of AMA International University-Bahrain, held on March 30, 2019 at the University Auditorium.

During the plenary session, Dr. Geraldo C. Talisic, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, highlighted the essence of research in the University’s strategic framework and would serve as backbone of pedagogical practices and student learning.

In the same session, Mr. Stefano Pettinato, the UNDP Bahrain Resident Representative, talked about the “Importance of Research in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of Bahrain”. He emphasized the role of research in the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the Kingdom as well as the double causality between research and development. He challenged the participants to continue engaging in relevant and realistic research issues. Prior to his keynote, he commended AMAIUB for spearheading Research Colloquium as an avenue for both faculty members and students to present their research undertakings.

On the other hand, the parallel sessions marked the oral and poster presentations of selected faculty members. For the first time, selected students from the Master of Business Administration programme participated in the oral presentation of research undertakings.

Best in oral presentation were: Dr. Stephen Guansi and Dr. Farheen Akram for Business and Management; Dr. Maroof Siddiqui for Engineering and Environmental Science; Dr. Ruchin Jain for Information Technology; and Ms. Reem Al Mahmood and Mr. Ayman Jameel for the MBA programme

Dr. Hafiz Abid Malik for Business and Management, Dr. Zeyad Ismail for Engineering and Mathematics, and Dr. Danilo Tabalan for Languages and Social Sciences garnered the best poster presentation.

Said event is one of the initiatives of AMAIUB Research Council headed by Dr. Lina Calucag. It is geared to continually develop new ideas and innovations in the research outcomes responsive to socio-economic requirements of Bahrain and the region, thus strengthening one of AMAIUB’s strategic goals – “Foster a research culture in the university delivering a consistent stream of applied research.”
