AMA University seeks to repeat its win of Microsoft Imagine Cup


AMA International University- Bahrain was visited on Sunday and Monday 23-24 February 2014 by Microsoft Corporation jointly with e-government and Tamkeen in order to register students for Imagine Cup 2014. This international competition is becoming very popular and grabs the attention of many educational institutions and students in the Arab countries and all over the world. The registration process at AMA University was very successful and the turnout of students during the registration was very encouraging. The activity was also an opportunity for Tamkeen and e-government to promote the services they both offer to citizens and how students can benefit from such services. The Imagine Cup 2014 competition for this year will be held first in Bahrain where the winners will represent the kingdom on the Arab level in Qatar and the winners of the second stage will represent the Arab Countries in Seattle in the USA. It is worth mentioning that AMA students won the first place and the third by two separate teams participated in the local edition of Imagine Cup 2012 held at Isa Cultural Centre in Juffair under the slogan (Imagine a World Where Technology Helps Solve the Toughest Problems). The university following that win also represented the the Kingdom of Bahrain in the international competition held in the same year in Sydney, Australia. AMA students are expected to contest in this year’s competition with over 500 participants of various colleges and universities in the Kingdom of Bahrain where the winners in this preliminary stage will represent Bahrain in Qatar then USA if they proceed to the next stage. The university’s participation in such scientifically beneficial programmes and competitions comes as a result of its commitment to the elevation of the higher education in Bahrain and the development of curriculums and capabilities of its students in order to be able to meet the requirements of the labour market in Bahrain, GCC and the world.
