AMA International University holds 3rd Research Colloquium


With the theme, “Towards Research and Teaching Quality in Engineering, Information Technology, Business, and Natural & Social Sciences” AMA International University-Bahrain (AMAIUB) held its Research Colloquium on October 31 at the University Auditorium.

Conducted annually, the colloquium featured the research outputs of the AMAIUB faculty members through oral and poster presentations covering some aspects of Business and Finance, Engineering, Computing, Natural and Social Sciences, and Languages.

In her welcome remarks, Ms. Buena Gracia A. Canzana, AMAIUB Head of Administration emphasized that the university’s research thrusts are aligned to the Kingdom’s Economic Vision 2030. Hence, the outputs of the university are geared towards the advancement of Bahrain’s research landscape. Ms. Buena also emphasized that the University President, Dr. Amable R. Aguiluz V has been very supportive in all the research endeavors of the faculty members.

University Provost Dr. Geraldo C. Talisic underscored that AMAIUB is persistent in building its sustainable research culture. He encouraged the faculty to integrate the research findings into tangible applications especially in the course of the teaching-learning process. Furthermore, the Provost congratulated everyone for contributing to the exponential growth of the university’s number of international publications.

Head of Research and Publication Office Dr, Amin El Meligi , on the other hand, showcased the university’s research milestones through the faculty members who collaborated with the industries and other universities; presented their research to local, regional, and international conferences; and gained prestigious recognitions globally. All these undertakings coincide with the launch of the National Strategy for Scientific Research of the Kingdom of Bahrain last October 20.

The plenary speakers from different sectors in Kingdom of Bahrain shared valuable insights to the participants.

Mr. Samir Al-Darabi, Director of United Nation Information Center, discussed about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Particularly, he focused on Goal No. 17 which is Strengthening the means of Implementation and Revitalizing the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.

Dr. Farzana Al-Maraghi, Director of Scientific Research of the Higher Education Council, delved on Research Strategy for Kingdom of Bahrain. She also discussed the programs and projects that could help alleviate the research status of Bahrain in the GCC. In addition, Dr. Farzana thanked the AMAIUB administration for its extending its support to the faculty researchers and for complying with the research demands of the Kingdom.

On the other hand, Dr Adel Abdulla, Bahrain IEEE Section Chairperson, delineated the organization’s activities which assists researchers whose topics center on engineering and technology.

The colloquium concluded with the awarding of certificates to the winners of the oral and poster presentations.
